History

The idea for LaBlast came about after the second season of Dancing with the Stars, when Louis’ celebrity partner, Lisa Rinna, confided that she’d had an amazing experience working with him and wanted to keep on dancing after taping had ceased. As far as she knew there weren’t any classes offered that fit exactly what she’d been doing with Louis and, after a discussion between the two friends, it quickly became apparent to Louis that he had an opportunity to create something new and exciting – something that wasn’t already out there.

The premise was simple: create a partner-free dance program that anyone could participate in to learn to dance, get fit, and have fun. With Lisa’s help, Louis launched his first class in a small dance studio with five friends. In just a few weeks, the classes were packed! More and more classes were added and before he knew it, Louis was teaching eight classes, 6 days a week. After just two years, the classes had become so popular that he had no choice but to expand by developing a dance program that would be suitable for instruction at dance and fitness studios worldwide.

In 2009, immediately after the conclusion of Dancing with the Stars’ ninth season, Louis flew to his native country of the Netherlands to test out the LaBlast program in several dance and fitness studios. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and soon three LaBlast Teacher Trainings were completed. Currently, over 30 dance and fitness studios in the Netherlands have added LaBlast to their weekly schedule! With this success, Louis came back to the states with a determination to bring his program to students all across America.

In 2011, Louis took his workout to the next level, launching LaBlast at Crunch Gyms nationwide, introducing it to the fitness industry at the IDEA World Fitness Convention in Los Angeles, and recording a series of 5 LaBlast DVDs. He also trained a team of dance and fitness professionals to become LaBlast Master Trainers with the goal of bringing his unique class to health clubs, fitness facilities, and dance studios around the world.
